Cole Beasley hopes to play vs. Bengals

By Todd Archer

IRVING, Texas – As Lance Dunbar recovers from a sprained foot, wide receiver Cole Beasley might be a test case for the running back’s return.

Beasley has not played since spraining his foot Aug. 2 at Oakland. While no two injuries are alike, he was able to do some running on an anti-gravity treadmill Monday that takes pressure off joints, but said some soreness remained.

“I still haven’t really run yet, but I’ve got to get to where I can run with my normal body weight, then get out and cut and make plants and do things that receivers need to do,” Beasley said. “Hopefully I’ll be able to practice before the week is over, but I’m not sure. We’ll see.”

A source said Dunbar could need three to four weeks to recover from his injury, which puts his availability for the Sept. 8 season opener against the New York Giants in jeopardy. Coach Jason Garrett only would say that Dunbar won't play Saturday against Cincinnati and hoped “this is only a mild setback for him.”

Beasley is hoping to play against the Bengals but acknowledged he would have to practice at some point to play.
