Andy Reid is familiar with the Cowboys

By Calvin Watkins

IRVING, Texas -- When the Cowboys visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon, it's almost as if this isn't an interconference game.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid coached the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999 to 2012 posting a 17-11 mark against the Cowboys during his days in the NFC East.

Reid's knowledge of the Cowboys makes this seem more like a division game even though it's not.

"Well, we certainly know Andy Reid and the kind of teams he’s put together for a lot of years so it’s something that I think will be a little bit familiar to us," coach Jason Garrett said. "The colors are different but we’ve gone against him a lot and we have an immense amount of respect for him and what he’s done and the kind of program he’ll put together. I think it was reflected in their success (on Sunday), starting off against Jacksonville. He certainly has a good feel for our team, having competed against us a couple times a year for a lot of years. It will be a good battle. He’s an excellent football coach and we have the world of respect for him."

The only time Reid faced the Cowboys in a home opener was 2002, where the Eagles won 44-13.
