Cowboys to see Ratliff again in 2014

By Todd Archer

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys were not keen to see Jeremiah Ratliff (we know him as Jay) sign with the Chicago Bears last season after they released him off the physically unable to perform list with a groin injury.

In the "Monday Night Football" meeting at Soldier Field last season, Ratliff started, had three tackles and a sack -- his first since Week 13, 2011 -- in what was the second-worst loss of the Cowboys' season.

Ratliff signed a two-year deal with the Bears on Wednesday, and the Cowboys will get to see him again in 2014 at Soldier Field. The exact date will come out in a few weeks when the NFL releases the schedule.

The Cowboys cut Ratliff after they believed he would not be able to play in 2013 because of lingering issues with a sports hernia surgery. He failed the conditioning test to start training camp and was placed on PUP. He rehabbed mostly away from the facility and his agent initially said Ratliff would sit out the 2013 season to get healthy -- only to pronounce shortly thereafter his client would be able to work out for teams.

Ratliff will be reunited with his former defensive line coach with the Cowboys, Paul Pasqualoni. They were paired in 2010 in which Ratliff made the Pro Bowl and had 3.5 sacks. Ratliff played in five games for the Bears in 2013 and had 14.5 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a tackle for loss.

For those wondering if the Cowboys will attempt to recoup some money from Ratliff, it remains an option.
