Cowboys sign WR LaRon Byrd
By Calvin Watkins
The Dallas Cowboys signed wide receiver LaRon Byrd to a two-year contract on Thursday.
Byrd worked out for the Cowboys on Dallas Day.
He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Arizona Cardinals after the 2012 NFL Draft.
In two seasons with Arizona, Byrd played in four games and had one catch for eight yards with two special teams tackles. He didn't play in 2013 after suffering a concussion in the preseason and was placed on reserve/injured.
Byrd was cut by Arizona on April 4.
The Cowboys were in the market for a veteran wide receiver when the offseason ended but didn't make an aggressive move to sign one. The team expressed interest in Nate Burleson but he signed as free agent deal with the Cleveland Browns.
As it stands now the Cowboys have the following receivers on the roster: Cole Beasley, Dez Bryant, Dwayne Harris, Terrance Williams, Tim Benford, Lance Lewis and Jamar Newsome.
