Cowboys wakeup call: Day 21

By Todd Archer

OXNARD, Calif. – Every day of Dallas Cowboys training camp we’ll offer up a wake-up call that offers a quick review of the previous day and a preview of the current day.

Today’s schedule: The Cowboys and Oakland Raiders will conclude their two-day session with a 10:30 a.m. PT practice. Jason Garrett said the work would mostly focus on different game situations.

Quick thoughts on Tuesday’s practice:
What I’m watching: With two fights and a couple of shoving matches in Tuesday’s workout, it will be interesting to see how physical today’s session becomes.

Most of the work will be situational in nature, looking more like the Blue-White scrimmage from Aug. 3. Those can tend to get heated because both sides of the ball will not give in. Remember there was a Cowboy-on-Cowboy fight between Dez Bryant and J.J. Wilcox.

The first-team offense had just three drives against the Raiders defense, totaling 15 plays. With the heavy situational work, that could double depending on how much the coaches on both teams want their regulars to work.

They said it: “It’s a long list and there are some things that can be complicated about that list. I don’t know that I’m going to stand up in a team meeting and go down that list with everybody but that information is in front of them. We will try to keep it in front of them, really that thesis of making sure they understand they control their body, what goes in it is there responsibility. Just keep saying it. Keep letting them know that and inform them about what is allowed and what's not allowed. Hopefully we will learn from everybody situation.” -- Coach Jason Garrett on whether he will re-enforce what is on the NFL’s banned substance list in relation to Orlando Scandrick's suspension.
