FORT WORTH, Texas -- So what do golfers do during weather delays of more than two hours?

Here’s what Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial leader David Toms did:

“I hadn’t seen my dad in a while. I sat there with the family dining with my dad and his wife and talked about getting our hunting place ready for duck season and talking about what my kids were doing at home and what a piece of work my son was. And two hours went by quickly. I ate a little bit, told stories and enjoyed catching up with my parents that I hadn’t seen in a while.”

Toms was surprised the scores did not go lower after the weather delay. He and John Senden made three birdies after the break in benign conditions. Rickie Fowler had bogeys on Nos. 11, 13 and 14 to fall to 6 under but rallied with birdies on his last two holes.

“Guys might lose focus. Guys that were playing well you lose a little bit of momentum. Who knows?” Toms said. “Maybe they are spinning it back of the green. Maybe their putts are a little bit slower and they’re not making them. Who knows? Certainly it was out there. It was out there to be had the last couple of hours.”
