IRVING, Texas -- A second-round 71 left Tony Romo and Britt Patton finishing tied for seventh in the Adams Golf Pro/Scratch Championship at the Lakes at Castle Hills in Lewisville.

Romo and Patton finished 9-under in the two-day event, four strokes behind the winners, Andrew Lewis and Joe Epperson, who won in a playoff over Brian Ricketts and Jerry Slagle and Bruce Smith and Kevin Whipple.

Romo and Patton, the pro at Dallas National Golf Club, entered the second round tied for the lead following a 64 on Monday, but were caught in windy conditions during Tuesday's afternoon round. The team finished with an eagle on the par-5 18th hole.
LEWISVILLE, Texas -- Tony Romo and Britt Patton are tied for the lead after the first round of the Adams Pro/Scratch Championship at the Lakes at Castle Hills after firing a 64 on Monday.

The Romo/Patton team is tied with Bruce Smith and Kevin Whipple of the Black Belt Golf Academy. Two teams are one shot off the pace entering Tuesday’s final round.

Romo, who went through a morning workout at the Cowboys’ Valley Ranch facility before teeing off, made six birdies during the round, while Patton, a pro at Dallas National Golf Club, birdied the final three holes to finish 8 under.

Romo made three straight birdies on Nos. 4-7 and added birdies on Nos. 10, 12 and 13. The most improbable birdie came on the par-5 12th hole. After his tee shot found the water, Romo hit a 3-wood to within 18 feet and knocked in a putt from just off the green. The team had a bogey on No. 2.

Romo has won this event two of the last three years with Mark Walker.
