Texas' basketball season is over, but parts of the country are still playing and ESPNHS is still updating the POWERADE FAB 50 national rankings.

The Flower Mound Marcus boys maintained their No. 5 position after winning their second consecutive state title. Only two teams ahead of Marcus, No. 2 Findlay Prep (Nev.) and No. 4 Chester (Pa.), haven't completed their seasons. Findlay Prep beat Marcus earlier in the year.

Prestonwood Christian remained at No. 12 and fellow TAPPS power Arlington Grace Prep moved up two spots to No. 22.

South Grand Prairie, which lost to Marcus in a regional final, bounced up three spots to No. 46.

In the girls FAB 50, Class 5A champion Duncanville moved up four spots to No. 7 two weeks after completing its season. Irving MacArthur held the No. 18 spot, Dallas Lincoln dropped two spots to No. 42 and Plano West slipped a spot to No. 44.

UIL Class 5A champion Duncanville edged up a spot to No. 11 in the latest ESPNHS POWERADE FAB 50 girls basketball rankings.

The other area girls teams in the FAB 50, none of which reached the state tournament, held their ground from last week: No. 18 Irving MacArthur, No. 40 Dallas Lincoln and No. 43 Plano West.

In the boys FAB 50, two area teams gained ground after winning TAPPS championships. Prestonwood Christian moved up a spot to No. 12 after winning the TAPPS 5A title. TAPPS 4A champion Arlington Grace Prep gained four spots to reach No. 24.

Flower Mound Marcus, which reached this weekend's UIL Class 5A state tournament, stood firm at No. 5. South Grand Prairie slipped from No. 41 to No. 49 after losing to Marcus by one point in a regional final.

Duncanville vaulted eight spots to No. 12 in the latest ESPNHS POWERADE FAB 50 girls basketball national rankings after Saturday's victory over previous No. 12 Irving MacArthur in the Class 5A Region 1 championship game.

MacArthur slipped six spots to No. 18 after being denied a chance to defend its state championship.

Defending 4A state champion Dallas Lincoln fell from No. 22 to No. 40 after losing to Rockwall in the 4A Region 2 quarterfinals. Plano West dropped from No. 28 to No. 43 after MacArthur ended the Wolves' season in the regional quarterfinals.

In the boys ESPNHS POWERADE FAB 50, defending Class 5A state champion Flower Mound Marcus maintained its position at No. 5. No. 13 Prestonwood Christian also held its position.

Arlington Grace Prep, which has reached the TAPPS 4A state semifinals, moved up three spots to No. 28. South Grand Prairie also moved up three spots and sits at No. 41.

Richland, which had been No. 46, tumbled out of the rankings after its bi-district loss to Mansfield Timberview.

What we got right: The entire 5A boys poll remained the same as last week. Flower Mound Marcus finished as the uncontested No. 1 team through the entire regular season.

What we got wrong: It took the entire year, but the 4A poll finally found resolution as teams were crowned district champions. South Oak Cliff's second win over Dallas Kimball, earning SOC the district title, not only moved them into the No. 2 position, it boosted Highland Park back into the No. 1 spot thanks to the Scots' win over SOC early in the year. Trimble Tech drops to No. 3 but will have a chance to prove itself in the playoffs when it faces competition outside Fort Worth ISD. No teams fell out of the poll from last week.

What we got right: The entire 5A poll. No losses from any of the top 10 results in a stagnant poll with a week remaining in the regular season.

What we got wrong: The dust finally began to settle this week in the crazy DISD after Dallas Woodrow Wilson beat Dallas Hillcrest to claim the District 12-4A championship. The DISD remains the 4A powerhouse in the area, giving Woodrow the clout to jump into the No. 2 spot. Everything else was simply a shift to account for the move.

What we got right: Irving MacArthur and Dallas Lincoln never faltered throughout the season, as both were in the No. 1 spot every week. The entire 5A poll remained the same from last week.

What we got wrong: Not much. Waxahachie earned its way into the final regular-season 4A poll with votes from all participants.

What we got right: The majority of the 5A poll. Every team in the poll remained in this week, with just some minor readjusting due to a Plano West loss to Flower Mound. The basic shape of 4A remained the same, with a few slight shifts.

What we got wrong: Class 4A's finest. While previous No. 1 Highland Park did not lose this week, the Scots were taken to double overtime by McKinney North and failed to score a basket for a period of nine minutes and 40 seconds at the end of the game. Another consistent effort by Fort Worth Trimble Tech this week earned it the top spot in the 4A poll.

What we got right: Almost all of the girls teams in last week's polls did what they needed to do to secure their positioning. All the teams in 4A remained the same.

What we got wrong: Dallas Skyline took an unexpected, nondistrict loss to THESA (home school), dropping the Lady Raiders to No. 10 in the 5A poll. In 4A, Rockwall caused a shake up after taking a one-point loss to McKinney North. The damage, however, was not as severe, dropping Rockwall to No. 6.

What we got right: Most of the 5A poll remained the same, with the exception of North Crowley, who moved into fourth place after tearing through the first half of its district play. Cedar Hill was the only other major change, falling out after taking a surprise district loss to Mansfield Timberview Friday.

What we got wrong: We can't figure out the DISD teams. A week after moving up to No. 1, Dallas Hillcrest lost to Dallas Lincoln for the second time in 12-4A play, dropping the Panthers to No. 6. South Oak Cliff becomes the highest ranked DISD school after its victory over then-No. 1 Dallas Kimball two Saturday's ago in 11-4A play. After the dust settled on the DISD shakeup, Highland Park moved to the top of the poll with a consistent 22-2 record.

What we got right: Almost everything this week. All 10 teams from last week's 5A and 4A polls remained in this week's poll, with just a little bit of shuffling. Southlake Carroll notched a 90-36 win over Justin Northwest early in the week, lifting the Lady Dragons into the No. 6 position.

What we got wrong: For once we can give ourselves a small pat on the back for picking 20 teams that continue to win.

What we got right: Most of Class 5A. For the second straight week, there were no changes among the top seven teams.

What we got wrong: The order of Class 4A. There are no new teams in the 4A top 10, but only three teams held their positions. With previous No. 1 Dallas Kimball and No. 2 The Colony losing, Dallas Hillcrest and Dallas Woodrow Wilson moved up to the top two spots.

What we got right: Most of the teams. There was some shuffling, but only one team in each class fell out of the top 10.

What we got wrong: Southlake Carroll. The Dragons had been sitting at No. 3, but they were bumped down to No. 7 after losing to previously unranked Keller.

What we got right: Almost everything. Seventeen of the 20 teams in last week's boys polls remained in the same position.

What we got wrong: The second best team in District 9-5A. We thought it Dallas Jesuit, but the Rangers lost to Dallas Lake Highlands, falling out of the rankings after being ranked No. 10 and causing a 9-5A logjam behind Richardson Berkner.

What we got right: The 10 best in 5A. There was some jockeying for position, but the same teams remained in the 5A rankings.

What we got wrong: Frisco's finest. We thought it was Wakeland, but Liberty knocked off the Wolverines to remain unbeaten in District 9-4A and move into the 4A rankings at No. 8.

The basketball season is in full swing, so it's time to debut our weekly rankings.

The new top 10s are led by teams that finished last year as the best in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Flower Mound Marcus' boys (5A), Dallas Kimball's boys (4A) and Irving MacArthur's girls (5A) won state championships last year and are all No. 1 in this year's first polls. Dallas Lincoln, the only girls team from the area to reach the 4A state tournament, is the other No. 1.

Three Class 5A schools have their boys and girls teams ranked: Plano West (both No. 4), DeSoto (both No. 5) and Cedar Hill (both No. 8).

In 4A, two schools doubled up: Arlington Seguin (No. 7 boys, No. 6 girls) and Lincoln (No. 10 boys, No. 1 girls).

Here are ESPNDallas.com's debut rankings for 2012:
