  • Third on the depth chart at the start of the season, the talented sophomore took over as starter by the fifth game of the season and helped guide the Dragons to a 10-4 record and their deepest playoff run since 2006.

The son of former major league baseball pitcher Ken Hill proved proficient as a passer and runner. He completed 73 percent of his passes for 1,761 yards and 15 touchdowns. As a rusher, Hill gained 435 yards and seven touchdowns in 115 attempts.

Coach Hal Wasson’s confidence in Hill was evident in his team’s 38-24 regional playoff win over Abilene when the quarterback was trusted with the ball-carrying duty on the Dragons’ last possession. Hill rushed for two touchdowns and threw for two, including one for 94 yards, in the win.

Class 4A: QB/DB Nick Harvey, Lancaster

Harvey earned recognition on a list of the nation’s top 10 freshmen in a season that saw him start at defensive back and quarterback.

While sharing time at quarterback, Harvey threw for 524 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 665 yards and five touchdowns.

As a defensive back, Harvey intercepted a pass and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown in a season-opening win over Carter.

In perhaps Lancaster’s biggest win in 2010, 42-21 over West Mesquite, Harvey rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns and threw for a fourth score.
