DeSoto boys face 21-1 FM Marcus on Tuesday
Defending Class 5A boys basketball state champion DeSoto faces a difficult road test against Flower Mound Marcus on Tuesday. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.
"Marcus is the best team I've seen this year," DeSoto coach Chris Dyer said, "and the scary thing is they are doing it with sophomores."
Marcus (21-1) is No. 3 in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches' state rankings, the best of any area Class 5A team. DeSoto (18-3) is No. 13.
DeSoto, third in the DISD Coca-Cola Tournament last week, returned only two regulars from last year's state champion.
"We are spreading things around, like we usually do," Dyer said. "I've got good kids that work awfully hard."
Keon Littleton, a 6-1 guard, has scored in double figures in each of DeSoto's last four games, including Saturday's 52-48 overtime win at Flower Mound.
Two inside players that figured to play a role are no longer in the program. Keith Davis, a 6-9 Texas A&M signee, has enrolled at a prep school, and 6-5 Evan Washington, an LSU football recruit, graduated early from high school so he could enroll at Baton Rouge for the spring semester.
