Travis L. Brown/ESPNDallas.com Quarterback Kenny Hill guided Southlake Carroll to the regional final round as a sophomore.
Overview: Carroll's 2010 season began with the Daxx Garman scandal and the fallout saw the storied Dragons struggle to defeat even the most pedestrian foes in the regular season. But Carroll salvaged its season with a run to the region finals behind QB Hill, who blossomed in the playoffs. With Hill returning for his junior season and a junior varsity program that went a combined 19-1, Carroll may prove that its early struggles in 2010 were an aberration and not a sign of things to come. ... With a bevy of receivers and RB Zach Thomason returning, Carroll's most pressing issue on offense is replacing four of the five starters on the offensive line. Wasson wants to create depth on the offensive line. ... Carroll enters its second year in the 3-4 defense with very talented linebackers, led by Will Davis, a Kansas State commit. Wasson believes linebacker is one of Carroll's biggest strengths. ... The all-important position of nose tackle in Carroll's 3-4 is vacant.
