Area players make ESPNHS all-Southwest team

ESPNHS, formerly ESPN RISE, released its preseason all-region football teams, and the Dallas-Fort Worth area is heavily represented on the Southwest squad.

The first-time offense includes Aledo RB Johnathan Gray and DeSoto OL Curtis Riser.

The first-team defense is dominated by area players, with Denton Ryan DL Mario Edwards Jr., Arlington Martin DL Devonte Fields, Mansfield DL Hassan Ridgeway, Dallas Skyline LB Peter Jinkens, Euless Trinity LB Brian Nance, Denton Ryan LB Jordan Richmond, DeSoto DB Bryson Echols and Wilmer-Hutchins DB LaDarrell McNeil.

Allen RB Jonathan Williams, Dallas Skyline WR Thomas Johnson, Grand Prairie WR DeVonte Lacy, Dallas Jesuit WR Jake Oliver, Euless Trinity OL Hiva Lutui and Aledo OL Michael Wilson were named to the second-team offense.

Dallas Bishop Dunne DL Alex Norman, Denton Ryan LB Alex De La Torre, Wylie DB Terrell Burt and Mesquite Horn DB De'Vante Harris were picked for the second-team defense.

The Southwest Region includes Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
