For today's Class 5A Division I state final, Euless Trinity coach Steve Lineweaver followed the same preparation plan his team used in 2007 for state title No. 2 when it defeated Converse Judson, 13-10, here at San Antonio's Alamodome.
Kickoff for Trinity (13-2) and Austin Westlake (13-2) is at 2 p.m.
Trinity traveled to San Antonio a day early, stayed at the same hotel and even chose to eat the same type food.
It worked once, why change?
The temperature in the Alamodome is controlled, but Lineweaver is still in his familiar, and possibly lucky, black sweat shirt.
Trinity, attempting to win its third state title in five years. is the designated visitor and will wear its white uniforms.
It appears Westlake, three hours closer to Alamodome than Trinity, will have more fans. Westlake has one state title to its credit in six prior appearances. Westlake defeated Abilene Cooper in 1996 when Drew Brees led the way.
