West Mesquite remained unbeaten in District 15-4A girls basketball with a lopsided 62-24 win at Corsicana on Tuesday.

The Lady Wranglers (20-7, 9-0) were led in scoring by 6-foot junior forward Claudia Price with 13 points. Alexus Bertrand, a 5-2 sophomore point guard, added 10 points.

Corsicana didn’t score a field goal in the first period and trailed 35-8 at halftime.

Price for the season leads West Mesquite in scoring (17.1 points) and rebounds (13.4).

Seniors Sha’Georgia Williams and Kierra Davis average 13.5 and 13.1 points respectively.

West Mesquite, under coach Darrin Samuels, is a team that embraces the 3-point field goal. The quartet of Williams, Bertrand, Price and Davis has combined for 83 baskets from behind the arc. Williams is the team leader with 27.

The Lady Wranglers, No. 7 in ESPNDallas.com's Class 4A Top 10,  figure to be tested in the second half of district play with road trips to Ennis (14-10, 8-1) on Jan. 20 and Waxahachie (13-8, 6-2) on Jan. 27. Waxahachie forced West Mesquite into overtime in a 59-57 Lady Wranglers’  home-court victory Dec. 16.

West Mesquite fell one win short of the Class 4A state final four a year ago, losing to Lincoln in the Region II title game, 56-43. The Lady Wranglers finished 26-9 and won four playoff games.
