Jumbled standings give 10-4A a playoff feel
By Jeff Andrews
Rather than slog through the numerous playoff scenarios in the jumbled and complicated District 10-4A playoff picture, it’s easier to boil it down to a phrase usually reserved for more clear-cut situations – win and you’re in.
Wylie, McKinney North, Richardson Pierce and Rockwall are all tied for second place at 3-2 with two games remaining in the season, and even McKinney at 2-3 has a chance of getting in despite being in sixth place.
Highland Park (8-0, 5-0) has clinched the district title.
Making the race even more interesting is that the remaining two games for all four of the teams tied for second place come against one another.
The combination of the race and the schedule will give 10-4A a playoff atmosphere two weeks earlier than for the rest of the area.
Wylie hosts Richardson Pearce on Friday while Rockwall will host McKinney North. McKinney plays last-place Wylie East on Thursday but closes its season against Highland Park.
