Mesquite Horn QB commits to Wyoming
By Randy Jennings
Mesquite Horn quarterback Emory Miller, who accounted for 3,412 yards in the 2009 football season, committed to Wyoming on Monday after a weekend visit to the campus in Laramie.
"I liked the coaches and they run the same spread offense we ran at Horn,'' Miller said. "They were interested in me because I'm a dual threat.''
Miller, a 5-11, 205-pound senior, has canceled a weekend visit to Air Force.
Miller made previous visits to Sam Houston State and South Dakota State. Tulsa showed interest in Miller as a defensive back.
In helping Horn reach the playoffs in District 11-5A, Miller completed 64 percent of his passes and threw for 2,685 yards and 22 touchdowns. His 4.5 speed at 40 yards helped him rush for 727 yards and 11 touchdowns.
"It is a long way from home, but that won't be a problem,'' Miller said. "We come to Texas twice for games next season.''
Verbal commitments are nonbinding. National signing day is Feb. 3.
