Miller continuing tradition of Carter scorers
By Jeff Andrews
Phillip Miller isn’t the first Dallas Carter Cowboy to score at a dizzying pace, but he is the latest.
The 6-foot senior guard averages 32.3 points per game to go with 6.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists. He’s posted some of the highest single-game totals in the area this year.
Miller dropped 41 on Denton, 54 on Dallas Samuell and Dallas Molina and 64 on Dallas Thomas Jefferson.
His play has Carter (9-8, 2-2) hanging in the playoff race in a crowded District 11-4A. Dallas Kimball (20-1, 3-0) and South Oak Cliff (11-5, 4-0) lead the district, followed by Carter and Seagoville (11-6, 2-2).
Miller comes from a long line of Carter scorers. The past two seasons, it was Doward Evans (39.3 ppg in 2010, 22.1 in 2009). In 2008, it was Brockeith Pane, who averaged a whopping 44.2 points per game.
Carter plays Dallas Pinkston at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
