DALLAS -- The Mavericks got a glimpse Tuesday night of the Jason Terry they'll need to make a long playoff run.

It's been a tough season for the reigning Sixth Man of the Year. He isn't getting as many shots as last season and his shooting percentage (.434) is by far the worst during his tenure in Dallas. His swagger seemed to be slipping, too.

"Just do what you do," Jason Kidd told Terry after shootaround.

Jet responded by scoring 26 points on 11-of-19 shooting in the win over the Detroit Pistons. He had his wings flying after knocking down a clutch jumper in the fourth quarter, but the most impressive part of Terry's game was the way he attacked the basket.

Five of Terry's buckets were driving layups, including his first three. When he's that aggressive off the dribble, it forces foes to back up a bit, giving him room to get his jumper off later in the game.

"Jet was the guy who got us going," Dirk Nowitzki said. "For some reason, he hasn’t had a great shooting season so far, but he definitely had the energy today."

Added Terry: "Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come."
