But Caron Butler's situation isn't normal, playing for a team with which he has never practiced.
Rick Carlisle wanted to discuss something with Butler, so he put Jason Terry into the game for a possession. It actually ended up being two possessions, because the official scorer didn't see Butler standing about 10 feet away from the scorer's table, ready to go back in the game.
Carlisle had his quickie chat with Butler after an ugly offensive possession in which Butler and Dirk Nowitzki weren't on the same page.
