Stats back up Kidd's case for weekly honor
Two notable achievements from to support Kidd’s case:
* Kidd’s 14 points in Saturday’s fourth quarter against Miami represent his best single scoring quarter in any game over the past two seasons.
* With seven steals in last Wednesday’s win over Phoenix, Kidd became the oldest player in league history to register at least seven steals in a regulation game since the NBA began tracking steals in the 1973-74 season.
The Elias Sports Bureau reports that two players slightly older than Kidd did so in games that went multiple overtimes – Lenny Wilkens (36 years, 355 days old) in a quadruple-overtime game for Portland on Oct. 18, 1974, and Utah’s John Stockton (36 years, 341 days old) in a double-overtime game on March 2, 1999 – but Kidd racked up his seven steals in 42 minutes against the Suns.
UPDATE: Utah power forward Carlos Boozer, not Kidd, was named the Western Conference's player of the week.
