Other than Jet's face, Kidd enjoyed rest

Jason Kidd said taking Wednesday's 112-109 nailbiter against Minnesota off served him well heading into a stretch of three games in four nights starting tonight at home against Sacramento.

Kidd is averaging 36.3 minutes a game this season. In the nine games he played since the All-Star break, Kidd logged 40 or more minutes five times and played fewer than 36 minutes just twice. The Mavs went 8-1 during that stretch with Kidd scoring in double figures in eight consecutive games before having that string snapped Monday at Charlottle.

"I think it was a great thing for me and it was very nice of coach [Rick Carlisle] and the staff to give me the day off yesterday, and for my teammates, providing J.J. [Barea] to get some time under their belt," Kidd said. "The unfortunate thing is Jet [Jason Terry] getting hit in the nose, but that happens. But, it was good to be able to watch it from a different seat as much as it did make me nervous down at the end."
