Former teammates, Jefferson lauds ageless Kidd
The Dallas Mavericks point guard has easily played his best basketball over the past two months and it continued in Game 1. Kidd finished with 13 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds and four steals in 41 minutes.
Jefferson said he's not suprised that the 37-year-old Kidd is still kicking.
"He's one of those ones that was blessed with the top one percent of the top one percent talent," Jefferson said. "So, the fact that he’s able to do it a lot longer than other people shouldn't be surprising."
Kidd, in his 16th season and his 14th postseason, continues to move up the NBA record books and Sunday he passed Michael Jordan four fifth place all-time in career assists with 1,031. Depending how long the first round series lasts, Kidd could move into third place before it's over. Scottie Pippen is just 17 assists away at 1,048 and Larry Bird currently occupies third place with 1,062.
