Too little, too late for Mavs in loss to Spurs

SAN ANTONIO -- The Mavs can't take any comfort from putting up a fight. Not with their season one loss away from ending.

After getting punched in the teeth the entire their quarter, when the Spurs erased a double-digit deficit, the Mavs balled up their fists for the fourth.

Too little, too late. The Mavs couldn't overcome their dozen-minute meltdown after halftime.

Spurs 92, Mavs 89.

What a blown opportunity for the visiting team at the AT&T Center. It's not often that San Antonio stars Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili will combine to go 5-of-25 from the floor. The Mavs let the Spurs' supporting cast put them on the brink of elimination.

The Mavs will fly home to Dallas a desperate team, down 3-1 in the series to their Interstate 35 rivals.
