LAS VEGAS -- Not even six minutes into the game, Roddy Beaubois had to take a seat because in a game that allows 10 personal fouls, he picked up his fourth -- a block trying to stop John Wall's path to the basket.

At the other end, Beaubois wasn't having much luck either as the Mavs got down by double-digits in the first couple minutes of the game. They trail 30-21 after the first quarter (you know how Rick Carlisle hates giving up those 30-point quarters). Harvard man Jeremy Lin was actually the one drawing oohs and ahhs from the crowd with some daredevil drives to the bucket, although he converted just one.

To go with his four fouls in the first quarter, Beaubois missed his lone shot, a 3-pointer, had no assists and a couple of turnovers. Wall, Washington's No. 1 overall pick last month, had two points, both free throws, four assists and a turnover.

Former Kansas State star Cartier Martin, playing for the Wizards, got off to a hot start with a game-high 11 points on 3-of-3 shooting, including nailing two 3-pointers.

Dominique Jones led the Mavs with seven points in the opening quarter, three coming at the free throw line.
