Josh Howard in town, but just for camp
The Mavs traded Howard to Washington last February and after only a handful of games with the Wizards he suffered a season-ending knee injury when he tore his left ACL. More than three weeks into free agency, Howard remains unsigned. The Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls have shown interest, along with Washington. New York, Cleveland and Sacramento are also believed to have interest in the 6-foot-7 Howard.
What salary Howard can command is also an interesting question. He made $10 million last season, but his value had declined becuase of ankle injuries and his off-court issues that dogged him the final year-and-a-half or so in Dallas. He could be headed to only a portion of a team's mid-level exception.
