Important clarification obtained from the Conduct and Discpline section of the NBA rulebook:

Whether they are issued by the league or by a player's own team, NBA suspensions for any exhibition, regular-season or postseason game can by definition only be without pay.

So ...

Mavericks center Brendan Haywood was indeed docked $62,727 for the outburst at shootaround aimed at Mavs coach Rick Carlisle that got Haywood suspended for Friday’s game at San Antonio.

That’s 1/110th of Haywood’s $6.9 million salary for this season.
