Thunder makes push, but Mavs hang tight

DALLAS -- The Mavericks withstood a strong third-quarter push by the Thunder, falling behind for the first time in the game and then by as many as eight. But Dallas managed to hang tight, 73-70, to make a run of their own in the fourth quarter.

The Mavs have dominated the Thunder in the final period in each of the last two games, both in Oklahoma City.

Dallas managed just 15 points in the third but is still shooting 50.9 percent in the game. J.J. Barea continued to spark the offense with five points in the quarter and 14 in the game. Shawn Marion continues to lead all scorers with 25 points. Kevin Durant had 19 for Thunder, while Russell Westbrook has 15.

The Mavs will try to turn up the defense in the fourth quarter, but they'll also need to find more offense after putting up 55 points in the first two quarters. In the third they were unable to continue to get good looks inside. After scoring 32 points in the paint in the first half, they had just four in the third quarter.
