Mavericks center Tyson Chandler, who has a fever and sore throat, will nevertheless play Friday night against the Spurs.
"I've got to," Chandler said as he dressed for pre-game warmups.
Chandler was held back at the team hotel to rest during the team's morning shootaround. He was having a hard time speaking after Thursday's practice because his voice was going hoarse and that is still the case.
"He was struggling this morning," coach Rick Carlisle said. "I think he’s feeling a little better now so he’ll give it a go."
The Mavs need their leading rebounder and top defender for tonight's big test against the Spurs. Dallas is already without Dirk Nowitzki for a ninth consecutive game and the second against the Spurs. Caron Butler, who is out for the season, scored 30 points the last time the two teams met in Dallas on Dec. 30.
