Jason Kidd's solution: Keep shooting
Jason Kidd’s jump shot, which he worked so hard to develop late in his career, has abandoned him. It’s been bad all season, as evidenced by his career-low .335 shooting percentage.
But Kidd’s aim has been especially awful during the Mavs’ current stretch of misery. He’s 28-of-109 from the floor (.256) during this stretch of nine losses in 11 games.
Frankly, Kidd’s shooting is killing a Dallas squad that needs all the steady scoring it can get from sources other than Dirk Nowitzki. He had been a very dependable 3-point shooter during his second tenure in Dallas, hitting better than 40 percent from long range the last three seasons. That percentage has plummeted to .321 for the season and .255 in the last 11 games.
“They all feel good,” Kidd said. “They’re all long or short. They haven’t gone in, but the life as a shooter, as I’m learning, is that you’ve got to keep shooting. That’s what I plan on doing and see if I can make a couple.”
