Dirk's aims for All-Star shooting title again
He’ll be part of Team Texas again for the Haier Shooting Stars competition on All-Star Saturday. Nowitzki’s squad won last season’s competition at the American Airlines Center, a triumphant moment only slightly overshadowed by the Mavericks pulling the trigger on a blockbuster deal with the Wizards that evening.
The San Antonio Silver Stars’ Roneeka Hodges will replace Becky Hammon, a sharpshooter Nowitzki sheepishly described as pretty, for Team Texas. TNT analyst Kenny Smith, the ex-Rockets guard, is the third member of the Lone Star State’s squad.
The other four teams are from Los Angeles, Atlanta and Chicago. Considering the fact that Atlanta and Chicago have bangers Al Horford and Taj Gibson, respectively, as their active NBA reps, it’s a pretty good bet that Dirk’s Texans and Pau Gasol’s LA squad will win.
