Tyson Chandler frustrated after fouling out
Chandler chose his words carefully after the Mavs’ Game 3 loss. He didn’t want to say anything that would draw a fine from the league office, but it was pretty obvious he didn’t agree with at least a few of the whistles that went against him.
“I’m not going to go there,” Chandler said. “I think everyone who watched the game can make their own assessment of it. Obviously, I was frustrated because I was on the sideline because of it.”
Coach Rick Carlisle referred to Chandler’s fourth foul, which happened while the big man was scrambling for a loose ball that he appeared to secure, as a “peculiar play.” However, Carlisle pointed out that a pair of Chandler’s fouls were due to poor execution by the Mavericks in their halfcourt offense.
“There are some things I think we can correct there,” Carlisle said. “He got a couple of fouls screening. Those are timing issues, and I think we can clean those up.”
Added Dirk Nowitzki: “He’s got to be a little smarter. Some tough calls there, obviously, but on the road that’s what happens. One time he set the pick where we’ve got to wait a little bit. We’ve just got to overall be a little smarter.”
