Rick Carlisle: We have to be opportunistic

6/1/2011

MIAMI -- Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said his big men have to perform better and overall his team must be consistent with its shot following a Game 1 loss at Miami.

The Mavs shot 37.3 percent from the floor and were outrebounded, 46-36. The bench scoring was bad. Jason Terry scored 12 points and missed seven shots in doing so. Peja Stojakovic missed all three of his shot attempts. J.J. Barea, who has dazzled everyone this postseason, went 1-8 from the field.

Tyson Chandler didn't perform well on the defensive end. He had nine points but only four rebounds and was outjumped by Dwayne Wade for a key rebound in the fourth quarter. Chandler also left LeBron James open while trying to help on Wade, who was driving to the basket.

"We have to be more opportunistic," Carlisle said. "Our shot-making has to be better and our rebounding has to be better. We're minus-10 on the offensive boards. That's 10 more opportunities that they have the ball and we don't. Those are two big areas."
