MIAMI -- Destiny?

How else do you explain a Dallas Mavericks team that has gotten very little out of Dirk Nowitzki, in which Tyson Chandler is in foul trouble, and Brian Cardinal and Ian Mahinmi have played together in the third quarter? The Mavs lead the Miami Heat, 81-72, after three quarters.

An incredible story continues to unfold. The Mavs continue to thwart every Heat mini-run with a big bucket. Jason Kidd stepped behind the 3-point line with the shot clock running down and buried it. Ian Mahinmi has four points and two offensive rebounds. His last one saved the final possession of the third quarter, and he capped it by swishing an elbow jumper.

Jason Terry has 21 points after scoring 19 in the first half. Shawn Marion has 12 and Nowitzki has 11.

LeBron James has 14 and Dwyane Wade has just 13. Chris Bosh has a quiet 16.
