DALLAS -- Small forward Shawn Marion missed shootaround this morning with an illness. His status for tonight's game against the Phoenix Suns is uncertain, coach Rick Carlisle said.

If Marion is unable to go, that would likely give Lamar Odom his first start of the season. After the team's shootaround, Odom and Carlisle continued the 6-foot-10 forward's conditioning program on the team's practice floor.

"Everything," Carlisle said when asked what the workouts with Odom concentrate on. "Conditioning, familiarity, trying to tweak some things to take advantage of his unusual abilities and just trying to keep things going the right way."

Odom is coming off his best game on Monday when he had eight points and five rebounds, but more importantly he was just more active and involved than in previous games.

Marion is also coming off one of his better performances. He scored 17 points in the 100-87 win over the Thunder, coming on strong in the second half after getting off to a 1-of-6 start from the floor.
