SAN ANTONIO -- Dallas Mavericks point guard Jason Kidd injured his lower back in the first quarter of Thursday's game with the San Antonio Spurs. He will not return to the game.
Kidd played nearly the entire quarter, one in which the Spurs jumped out to a 29-11 lead and finished it with a 31-17 margin. He checked out with 24.7 seconds left in the period.
Kidd, 38, missed his only two shot attempts and had three assists and two rebounds.
How he injured his back is uncertain.
The 18-year veteran played 28 minutes in Wednesday's win over the Phoenix Suns and Thursday's game is Dallas' sixth game in eight nights.
