After 3: Mavs 69, Spurs 58

January, 29, 2012
DALLAS -- Another dominant quarter by the Mavericks, who stand 12 minutes away from taking over sole possession of first place in the Southwest Division as we quickly approach the one-third mark of the season.

Best news for the Mavs continues to be a team-wide effort. In Dirk Nowitzki's return, he has just four points. Jason Kidd is out with a calf strain, but this game has been controlled by Dallas throughout.

Vince Carter (17 points) and Jason Terry (18 points) are the leading scorers in the game. The Spurs haven't scored more than 22 points in any quarter and failed to reach 20 in the first and third quarters. Dallas built up an 18-point lead, but a late flurry allowed the Spurs to at least make things interesting.

San Antonio is shooting 35.4 percent and is 4-14 from 3-point land, 12 fewer than they hit in their blowout home win Jan. 5.

Dallas, meanwhile, is continued its solid shooting for a second consecutive game -- well, from everywhere other than beyond the arc --hitting for 45.7 percent.
