Jason Terry: I'll take age and wisdom

| Mavericks guard Jason Terry says the Mavericks are still a "work in progress" and talks about how Lamar Odom is fitting in with the team. Listen |
The Thunder, led by Kevin Durant, 23, Russell Westbrook, 23, James Harden, 22, and Serge Ibaka, 22, lead the West at the All-Star break with a 27-7 record. Dallas is six games back at 21-13.
Come playoff time, Terry told ESPN Radio's Scott Van Pelt Show, throw the records -- and the birth certificates -- out the window.
"I like to say age and wisdom will outdo youth and athleticism any day, and that’s where we’re at with our team," said Terry, who called in from Las Vegas, where he said he is relaxing with his wife and watching the 2003 All-Star Game, Michael Jordan's last. "We’re the oldest team in the league, obviously, but our experience, if it’s a close ballgame, I like us, l like us a lot. With Jason Kidd at the helm, with my ability to make big shots, Dirk’s ability to take the game over in the fourth quarter, we like our chances. So as long as we put ourselves in position at the end of ballgames to have a chance to either get a stop or have the ball in our hands to win the game, we think we can get it done."
Terry called the Mavs a "work in progress," a team that is all-in on the defensive end but has work to do on the offensive end. He said the team has faith in Lamar Odom turning his season around and said that Odom they are pleased with the way Odom has picked things up defensively recently. On top of that, Terry echoed past Dirk Nowitzki's sentiments that the Mavs fear no one.
"There’s not any team out there right now that puts fear in us," Terry said. "Like I said, I think right now where we’re at, we’re fourth in the west, we’re about to make a move here, a push to the end of the season. Hopefully we can keep our minutes down and stay healthy and we’ll be right there at the end."
