DALLAS -- The Mavericks' top-five defense remained on All-Star break. And their offense wasn't great either.
Native son Deron Williams led a slam-dunk attack in the opening period as the Nets shot 52.2 percent and didn't have to live and die with the 3-point shot -- at least not yet.
Williams played the entire quarter and has a game-high 10 points with four assists and two rebounds.
Dirk Nowitzki has seven for the Mavs, who shot just 34.8 percent and turned it over four times for seven Nets points.
