Dirk Nowitzki: Plan is to play Friday
MEMPHIS -- Dirk Nowitzki said he hurt his back taking a jump shot during pregame warmups. He said it tightened up on him and it became apparent that he couldn't play.
Nowitzki left the game 51 seconds into the second quarter. He returned to the locker room to try to loosen up, but just couldn't do so, he said.
He said he plans, with treatment during the off day Thursday in New Orleans, to play Friday against the Hornets.
"Twenty-four hours, 48, basically until the next game is a long time for a body and I’ll be able to get some treatment and recover, but I’m fully planning on it,” Nowitzki said of playing Friday.
