Meet the 2012-13 Mavericks
So who are these guys anyway?
Dirk Nowitzki and Shawn Marion are the only key contributors from the 2011 title team still on the roster. Rodrigue Beaubois and Dominique Jones are the other members from that squad. Vince Carter, Brandan Wright and Delonte West re-join the aforementioned four from last season's team.
Newcomers include Elton Brand (acquired via the amnesty provision for just $2.1 million), Chris Kaman (signed to a one-year, $8 million deal), Darren Collison and Dahntay Jones (both acquired in a sign-and-trade with Indiana for Ian Mahinmi) and O.J. Mayo (signed to a two-year deal with a player option for about $4 million next season).
Then there's the three draft picks, all of whom will be play next season under guaranteed contracts: Jared Cunningham, Jae Crowder and Bernard James.
Perhaps most interesting about the roster is that eight of the 15 players are guards and five can be accurately classified as combo guards.
Barring a trade prior to the start of training camp at the end of September, the Mavs have their 15-man roster.
Here's the projected lineup, one that includes three new starters:
Starters
PG: Darren Collison
SG: O.J. Mayo
SF: Shawn Marion
PF: Dirk Nowitzki
C: Chris Kaman
Off the bench
PG: Delonte West, Rodrigue Beaubois, Dominique Jones, Jared Cunningham
SG: Vince Carter, Dahntay Jones, Beaubois, Jones, Cunningham
SF: Carter, Jae Crowder
PF: Elton Brand, Brandan Wright
C: Brand, Wright, Bernard James
