UPDATE: Roddy Beaubois (ankle) out vs. Trail Blazers
(UPDATE: Beaubois said about an hour before tipoff that he won't play against Portland.)
Beaubois twisted his left ankle in practice Friday and did not suit up for Saturday's win over the Charlotte Bobcats. Beaubois, who has averagd 9.5 points and 2.5 assists in two games, practiced Sunday and participated in shootaround Monday morning.
If Beaubois can't play -- or if he can play just limited minutes -- the club could utilize Dominique Jones as the primary backup, like it did Saturday. Jones played well and had six points and six assists.
* Chris Kaman came out of Saturday's game fine. He played 20 minutes and outside of his calf feeling a bit stiff at times, felt good. Kaman practiced Sunday and appears to be getting back into a routine.
"The key thing is moving him in the direction of 100 percent health," Carlisle said. "We've had a good couple of days. We'll get ready for tonight and hope that it goes well again. It's day-to-day. We just keep working on it and make sure we're getting him the right amount of minutes, not throwing him in too much, but building up his conditioning too."
Kaman had 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting in Saturday's blowout win over Charlotte. He added four rebounds as well.
* Carlisle praised Portland rookie Damian Lillard, who is averaging 21.3 points and nine assists through three games so far this eason. The 6-3 guard out of Weber State is an early rookie of the year candidate, according to Carlisle.
"Point guards have the ball more, so it's going to feature him even more," Carlisle said. "I'm really impressed with his feel for the game. He's got an air of confidence. He does a really nice job of involving his teammates. We haven't seen a point guard come in like this that can shoot from 25, 26 feet easily in a long time."
