DALLAS -- Shawn Marion was diagnosed with a strained left calf when re-evaluated Friday by Mavericks team physician T.O. Souryal.
There is no definite timetable for Marion's return. He will not play tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers and is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, coach Rick Carlisle said.
Marion, the Mavs' most versatile player and leading rebounder, missed the last four games with what the Mavs originally believed was a calf contusion. The calf did not getting any better during the Mavs' road trip, prompting Marion to get re-evaluated.
A strain is more serious than a contusion, but the Mavs hope Marion can return at some point during this stretch of four games in five nights.
