The Mavericks fired longtime strength and conditioning coach Robert Hackett, owner Mark Cuban said.
“We got rid of our strength and conditioning coach not because he wasn’t a great strength and conditioning coach, but we felt like we needed someone who was more an expert in performance technology science,” Cuban said on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM’s Galloway and Company while discussing the hire of general manager Gersson Rosas.
Hackett had been the Mavericks’ strength coach since the 2002-03 season, helping the franchise qualify for the playoffs 10 times in 11 seasons, advance to the Finals twice and win the 2011 NBA championship. He was the Grizzlies' strength coach for seven seasons before coming to Dallas.
Cuban said the Mavs are in the process of finding a replacement for Hackett.
