Our weekly look at which Mavericks’ stocks have risen and fallen the most:

Streaking
RISING

Jae Crowder: Crowder has equaled or surpassed his rookie-season high of 15 points in three of the last four games. After shooting only 38.4 percent from the floor last season, Crowder is leading the league in field-goal percentage (67.9) and is even better from 3-point range (68.4). Crowder, who shed about 15 pounds in the offseason, has also shown the versatility to defend a few different positions. Crowder entered the season as a fringe rotation player but has seized a firm grasp of a reserve role.

Slumping
FALLING

Wayne Ellington: Crowder’s playing time has come at the expense of Ellington, who signed a two-year, $5.3 million deal with the Mavs to play defense and provide perimeter shooting off the bench. Ellington went 1-of-7 from the floor in the loss to the Houston Rockets and has made only garbage-time appearances since then. His role reduction doesn’t mean that Ellington won’t be a key contributor at some point for the Mavs, but he must be in “be ready” mode right now.
