Stock report: Blair up, Dirk down

Our weekly look at which Mavs stocks have risen and fallen the most:

DeJuan Blair: Blair has been one of the league’s best per-minute rebounders this season, grabbing an average of 18.3 boards per 48 minutes off the Mavs’ bench. He’s been especially beastly during Dallas’ two-game winning streak. Blair ripped down 11 rebounds in 22 minutes against the Milwaukee Bucks and another 11 in 24 minutes against the Washington Wizards. He also had a total of 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting in those two games.

Dirk Nowitzki: Remember, Dirk is judged by shades of greatness. And he hasn’t approached his Hall of Fame standards recently, averaging only 15.2 points on 40.9 percent shooting in the last five games. He had an especially rough night in the Mavs’ loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves last week, when Nowitzki finished with 14 points and three rebounds, which paled in comparison to power forward counterpart Kevin Love’s 32-15-8 line. The hope is that Nowitzki just endured an off stretch during a busy part of the schedule -- and the rubber sleeve on his left knee isn’t a sign of trouble for the 35-year-old face of the franchise.
