Calderon has bone bruise, out vs. Wolves
Coach Rick Carlisle said Calderon was a game-time decision and is considered day-to-day. Rookie Gal Mekel will start in his place.
Calderon, who is averaging 11.1 points and 4.9 assists, suffered the injury during the first half of Friday night's loss to the Atlanta Hawks and exited in the third quarter. Without him, the Mavs blew a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter.
"He had an MRI," Carlisle said. "There was nothing other than a bruise that showed up in the MRI, so that's good news."
Rookies Mekel and Shane Larkin, who both struggled in Atlanta, are the only other healthy point guards on the roster.
Carlisle would prefer to leave Monta Ellis at shooting guard. However, if the rookies aren't effective and Calderon isn't available, Ellis will have to play significant minutes at point guard for the second consecutive night.
"Playing him too much at point is not a good thing," Carlisle said. "It takes him out of his strengths. We can do some good things with him at point, but not enough to outweigh the [downside]."
