NEW ORLEANS -- Mavericks guard Devin Harris hopes to make his season debut in 10 to 15 days.
Harris, who has been sidelined since undergoing toe surgery over the summer, went through a full-contact workout Thursday with the Mavs’ low-minute players. It was his first full workout since suffering a setback in his recovery last month.
The Mavs are optimistic that Harris, 30, can be a quality backup at both guard positions and provide a much-needed defensive presence in the backcourt. He anticipates returning in a limited role and gradually increasing his playing time.
“Unfortunately, I don’t have the luxury of having a whole lot of practice time,” Harris said. “I’d rather get out there and get limited minutes but just get the feel.”
