Mavericks center Samuel Dalembert will undergo an MRI Tuesday to determine the severity of his left shoulder strain, coach Rick Carlisle said.
Dalembert injured shoulder during the Mavs’ win Monday over the Cleveland Cavaliers. He did not return after leaving the game early in the third quarter. Dalembert did some light weight lifting but did not practice Tuesday and is considered day-to-day.
Dalembert, the Mavs’ primary starting center, is averaging 6.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 20.2 minutes per game this season. If he can’t play, DeJuan Blair or Brandan Wright will start at center Wednesday against the Toronto Raptors.
Dalembert played only six minutes off the bench in the Mavs’ previous meeting with the Raptors, a 109-108 loss to Toronto on Dec. 20. Blair started that game and had four points and four rebounds in 21 minutes. Wright scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench.
