A by-the-numbers look at Mavs' 5-game win streak

February, 10, 2014
The Mavericks have their first five-game winning streak since February 2012. A look at some of the most eye-popping statistics during the streak:

13.6: Average margin of victory, including four consecutive double-digit victories. The Mavs’ average point differential for the season has been boosted to plus-2.5, which is still the lowest among the West’s top eight teams.

109.0: Points per game scored by the Mavs. The Portland Trail Blazers lead the NBA in scoring this season with 108.0 points per game.

95.6: Points per game allowed by the Mavs. Only three teams -- the Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls and Memphis Grizzlies -- allow fewer points per game this season.

9.8: Turnovers committed per game, dropping the Mavs' season average to 13.5. That's the most significant change in the Mavs' offensive stats over the last five games.

6.2: Average rebounding edge for the Mavs, a stunning number for a team that still ranks 26th in the league in rebounding margin (minus-3.0 per game). The Oklahoma City Thunder lead the NBA in rebounding margin (plus-5.0) this season.

26.2/17.0: Average points/rebounds production generated by the Mavs’ three-headed big-man committee of Samuel Dalembert (11.2/7.8), Brandan Wright (11.4/6.4) and DeJuan Blair (3.6/2.8).

56.8/52.4/93.3: Dirk Nowitzki’s shooting percentages (field goals/3-pointers/free throws) during the streak, when he has averaged 24.6 points per game.

89: Points the Mavs have outscored their opponents by during Vince Carter’s 118 minutes. That’s an average plus-minus of plus-17.8. Wright (plus-10.2) also has a double-digit average plus-minus during the streak.

97-157: Combined record of the Mavs’ last five foes. The Grizzlies are the only opponent with a winning record that the Mavs have faced during the winning streak.
