Blazers 114, Mavs 112: Dirk couldn't deliver
By Tim MacMahon
DALLAS -- Dirk Nowitzki has hit so many clutch shots this season. He couldn't hit enough tonight.
Nowitzki's last three shots were tough turnarounds with Portland's Nicolas Batum harassing him. None of the three went down, including one that rimmed out at the overtime buzzer.
Blazers 114, Mavs 112.
The Mavs need Dirk, who had 12 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter, to be a hero because they simply couldn't stop Portland's Andre Miller.
Miller's 52 points exceeded his previous career high by 15. He had 25 in the fourth quarter and overtime. It didn't matter who was guarding him -- and the Mavs tried Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, JJ Barea and Shawn Marion down the stretch.
With Brandon Roy staying home, Dirk was the only All-Star on the floor. But Miller was the best player in the building tonight.
